DOBBS ACKERMANN | President and Chief Executive Officer

Dobbs Ackermann is a third generation owner of Ackermann Group. He has been involved in all facets of the business, including development, management, investment and previously, construction.

Driven by an interest in building communities, Dobbs completed formal training in construction to guide the Ackermann Group Development division in subdivision, retail, office and apartment development. Dobbs is experienced in government approval processes and gained public funding experience with tax increment financing, industrial revenue bonds, new market tax credits and revenue agreements (state and municipal).

Dobbs is dedicated to making our region one of the most vibrant places to live and work.

Dobbs received his B.A. from Emerson College.

GREGORY A. LONG | Chief Operations Officer

Greg Long joined Ackermann Group in 1999. His experience with Ackermann Group began as a Project Manager, followed by time spent as Controller, and an Executive Vice President. Greg’s growth in the company has provided him experience in onsite management, development and acquisition. He leverages his experience with associate relations to better understand the needs of the company, residents, clients and investors.

Today, in his role as COO, he oversees the day-to-day operations of Human Resources, Risk Management, and Residential Property Management. Greg creates a community at Ackermann Group where people feel welcome to share ideas, collaborate and improve.

Greg received his B.A. from Wilmington College.

JOHN R. WENDT | Chief Financial Officer

John Wendt brought his considerable professional experience to Ackermann Group in 2000. His responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of finance for new real estate development, equity placement and maintenance. John participates in leasing and sales negotiations with tenants and builders and provides oversight and accountability for multi-family development, contract review and negotiation and strategic planning facilitation.

Driven by challenge and success, John values loyalty, integrity, and the entrepreneurial spirit. He is a highly sought business counselor, and founded the strategic implementation firm Business Implementation Services of the Midwest, LLC and co-founded H.K. Campbell & Company, a regional CPA and consulting firm.

John is a CPA with his B.S. from Purdue University.

CHRISTOPHER W. KOHNEN | Director of Real Estate Investment

Chris Kohnen joined Ackermann Group in 2006. His responsibilities include targeting, analyzing and purchasing assets to grow Ackermann Group’s expanding real estate portfolio. Chris is also responsible for attracting private equity and managing investor relationships.

Chris is the Managing Broker at Ackermann Group, holding his Real Estate Broker’s License in the State of Ohio. He has over 20 years’ experience investing, managing and selling real estate. Chris is a member of the local, state and national Apartment Association, and has served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association and the Apartment Association Outreach, Inc.

Chris received his B.A. from Xavier University.

STEVEN C. KOHLER | Corporate Controller

Steve joined Ackermann Group in 2017. He is responsible for the management of the accounting department, building a high-performing team and identifying opportunities to improve the company’s reporting and analysis capabilities.

He is also responsible for maintaining relationships with lending partners and identifying creative solutions for deals through capital structure. Prior to Ackermann Group, Steve accumulated a decade of experience in public accounting with a large regional firm. He is a licensed CPA in Ohio and holds a BS from Xavier University.
